Golden Hour: Dolphin Flow
Atmospheric and expansive, this flow lengthens the backs of the legs and opens the upper back and shoulders, culminating in a yogi's choice of inversion.
Breath-based power yoga in Oakland — a strong flow, a real rest, and a playlist that carries you through both.
Hi. I'm Tameka. My hope is to provide a class that is a safe space for you to reconnect with your body, disconnect from anything that doesn't serve you and leave feeling better than when you walked in.
I took my first yoga class 20 years ago at Equinox (where I worked) and fell in love with the practice instantly. Since then, it's been one of the most consistent things in my life. No matter the city (or country), no matter the specific style, teacher or language, I've always been able to find the bliss, focus and sanity that comes from connecting breath to movement (and meditation) on the mat.
We open with breath and a little philosophy, build real heat to a peak, then melt it all back down. Come to work, stay to let go.

Left Coast Power Yoga
3702 Grand Ave, Oakland
A breath-based vinyasa practice timed to the best light of the day. We start with breathwork and a bit of yoga philosophy (I'm currently reading The Heart of Yoga), climb through a strong, heat-building sequence to a peak, then descend into a lush cooldown — closing with five full minutes of shavasana. Not the rushed kind. The full five.

Every flow has its own soundtrack, built to match the arc of the class — the warm-up, the work, the release. Practice with them at home, or press play and just chill.
Atmospheric and expansive, this flow lengthens the backs of the legs and opens the upper back and shoulders, culminating in a yogi's choice of inversion.
Steady and grounded, this flow builds strength through the legs and opens the front of the chest and shoulders, climbing to a bound Warrior III at its peak. Rooted where it counts, expansive where it opens.
Dreamy and continuous, this flow has no single peak pose — instead it builds into a moving warrior sequence that chains through itself, cresting through the standing postures and dissolving back into stillness. The peak isn't a shape you hold. It's a current you ride.
Yoga is a solo practice you do in a room full of people — and the people are the best part. Left Coast is a real community: all bodies, all levels, regulars who'll save you a spot and newcomers every week. Come see for yourself.
